Lactic Acid
what it does
An alpha-hydroxy acid derived from fermented sugars that exfoliates the skin surface while simultaneously drawing in moisture. The gentlest of the common AHAs and a great entry point for acid beginners.
AHA with a moisturiser mode โ it exfoliates dead cells AND pulls water in. Gentler than glycolic, kinder to sensitive skin. Do NOT use in the same session as retinoids though โ your face will absolutely rage.

don't combine with
Combining lactic acid with tretinoin significantly raises irritation risk, especially for sensitive or retinoid-naive skin.
๐ก Alternate nights โ never apply both in the same session.
Lactic acid is gentler than glycolic, but combining with retinol still elevates irritation risk for sensitive or retinol-naive skin.
๐ก Generally fine for experienced users โ avoid if your skin reacts easily.
